I am blessed with a child-like curiosity and an enthusiasm to always experiment. I play with materials, process and techniques till I develop what I think is an exquisite piece, an embellishing form of wearable art, a truly colourful representation of self-expression.

My first statement neckwear was a fusion of temple jewellery and jute. I so loved the outcome and the response it received. Made me realize where my strengths lie. We at Aarika believe in conscious fashion. Hence the choice of Jute! Jute is a natural product. It has a golden bond with the Earth. The jute industry provides work to 250,000 mill workers and more than 4 million farmer’s families. Traditionally used in packaging, construction or agricultural purposes, we worked on giving these earthy threads a more aesthetic appeal.

I always found temple jewellery fascinating! She is one of the most ancient arts of jewellery making. Originally crafted to adorn the deities during the chola dynasty, she has been around for centuries and what a stunner she is till date! It is amazing how versatile she! We are humbled and honoured that she let us experiment. I refer to this artform in the feminine because, only women can be this accommodating. Can come with such a rich heritage and yet so gracefully accept change.

DELICATE GLASS JHUMKAS

We have now ventured into Glass jhumkas. These blown glass jhumkas are extremely light and delicate to wear. The best part about wearing them is the light tinkling sound you can hear. Glassblowing is a glassforming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. The glassmith risks several health hazards if not done with the required caution.
